The 2026 RATU Rum St Helena Cup delivered another spectacular weekend on Moreton Bay, bringing together 88 boats, 350 participants and crews from clubs across Queensland for two days of competitive racing, camaraderie and celebration.

From tactical battles and close finishes to spectacular sailing conditions, the weekend showcased everything that makes the St Helena Cup one of Queensland's most anticipated sailing events. It's the People Who Make the Event

The success of the St Helena Cup is built on the incredible people behind it. Thank you to our participants, sponsors, volunteers, Race Management Team, support vessel crews, committee members, club staff, family and friends, and everyone who lent a hand throughout the weekend. From the first preparations to the final presentation, it was the enthusiasm, sportsmanship and community spirit of everyone involved that created such a vibrant atmosphere both on the water and back at the clubhouse.

We are thrilled to announce that the long-awaited ramp walkways upgrade is officially complete!

This project brings significant enhancements to our facilities, providing greater convenience and an added layer of safety for all members using the boat ramp. A key highlight of the upgrade is the vastly improved lighting, which will make launching and retrieving vessels in the early morning or after dark much safer and easier.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during construction. We hope you enjoy the improved facilities on your next trip out on the water!

We are pleased to inform members that the security infrastructure along the esplanade has been further upgraded.

To ensure maximum safety and site integrity, the perimeter fencing, specifically the section extending out into the water, has undergone significant enhancements. The underwater/waterline blade barriers have been extended further into the water and physically reinforced.

This improvement helps address previous vulnerabilities at the water boundary and provides a stronger, more continuous physical deterrent along our waterfront boundary.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to invest in keeping our grounds and facilities secure.

WMYC is proud to support young sailor Eloise Brown on her upcoming STV Windeward Bound Youth Leadership Challenge Sailing Programme, with the Club making a $100 donation towards her fundraising efforts.

At just 16 years old, Eloise has been selected to join a 10-day voyage departing Hobart this December aboard the traditional tall ship Windeward Bound. During the program, she will sail alongside other young Australians while developing skills in navigation, seamanship, teamwork and leadership.

An active member of both Venturer Scouts and Girl Guides, Eloise is already making a significant contribution to her community and plans to continue doing so through leadership roles, environmental initiatives, and volunteer work. Following the voyage, she hopes to apply the skills and experience gained at sea to her future roles as a student leader, community volunteer and environmental advocate.

To participate, Eloise is raising $7,500 for the Windeward Bound Trust, a charity that has delivered youth development and therapeutic sailing programs for more than 30 years.

We encourage WMYC members who are able to support this inspiring young sailor to consider making a contribution. Every donation, no matter the size, helps invest in the next generation of Australian sailors, leaders and community volunteers.

Due to increased supplier costs, the price of ice will increase to $4 per bag effective 1 November.

The QR code on the ice bin and all associated signage will be updated to reflect the new pricing before the change takes effect.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
