Dear Members,
At the AGM in August, we delivered the Strategic Plan for the Club, giving us a direction for the next ten years. As for any plan, we anticipate this may change along the way as the Club evolves to meet new challenges. I encourage all members to review this plan which can be found on the club website or by the link below and I’m happy to receive any feedback or suggestions.
Included in the plan is a diagram showing the basic design for the project to deliver a more enticing entrance to the Club (Esplanade Engagement) and the re-establishment of a dedicated members area including more accessible barbeque facilities. This will be the next facility improvement exercise we embark on soon.
To support this project, we are looking to leverage on the Bendigo Bank Community Raffle which is now running. This raffle, which is completely funded by the Bendigo Bank including all prize money, delivers great support to not-for-profit organizations in the local community. All proceeds from all tickets sold by an organisation or Club (like us), are paid back to that organisation.
So, for a five-dollar investment, you not only get a chance to win one of thirteen cash prizes, you are also supporting our Club to provide even better facilities. I encourage all members to buy a ticket if you can and maybe think about assisting in the sale of these tickets.
I’m looking forward to an exciting Saint Helena Cup and catching up with many of you during this great regatta.

It was wonderful to see so many members come together to recognise significant membership milestones, welcome new faces to the Club, and celebrate the strong sense of community that makes Wynnum Manly Yacht Club so special.
The evening brought together generations of members to share stories, make new connections, and reflect on the friendships and camaraderie that lie at the heart of our Club. It was a true celebration of the people who make WMYC such a welcoming and vibrant place to be.
A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. Our members are what make this Club so special, and it was wonderful to celebrate the incredible community we've built together.

We are pleased to advise that work on the new ramp pontoon is progressing well, with the project currently scheduled for completion in the coming week.
The new pontoons have now been positioned; however, the installation is not yet fully complete. While the ramp remains available for member use throughout this period, we ask that all members exercise additional care when accessing and using the area.
Please be aware that there are currently gaps between sections of the existing and new pontoon structures as work continues. These areas will be addressed as part of the final installation process. For your safety, we encourage members to move cautiously, wear appropriate footwear, and remain mindful of ongoing works and any temporary changes to the layout.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these important improvements are completed. The upgraded facilities will provide enhanced access and functionality for members and visitors alike.
Further updates will be provided as the project nears completion.

The Bendigo Bank Community Raffle is back for 2026, and this year Wynnum Manly Yacht Club is proud to be supporting Men's Mental Health.
In addition to your support through purchasing tickets, we're also seeking volunteers to sell ticket's around the Club when they are here.
Why we need your support
Many members will remember the popular WMYC Men's Breakfast, which brought men from across the club together over a BBQ and a coffee. More than just a social catch-up, these breakfasts created opportunities for connection, conversation and support, giving members a chance to talk about what's happening in their lives and look out for one another.
To help bring this valuable initiative back, WMYC has joined more than 55 community and not-for-profit organisations across the Bayside and Redlands regions participating in the Bayside Community Fund's fundraising raffle, proudly sponsored by the Community Bank Victoria Point and Wynnum Manly branches of Bendigo Bank.
Fantastic Cash Prizes to Be Won
There are 13 cash prizes up for grabs:
🥇 1st Prize – $15,000 Cash 🥈 2nd Prize – $3,000 Cash 🥉 3rd Prize – $2,000 Cash 🎉 4th to 13th Prizes – $1,000 Cash each
Every Ticket Makes a Difference
Tickets are just $5 each, and best of all, 100% of proceeds from WMYC ticket sales will go towards creating a dedicated BBQ area for members and reinstating regular Men's Breakfast events.
We encourage you to email office@wmyc.com or drop in and see Declan and Alyce if you would like to assist with Raffle ticket sales.

Most Sunday afternoons, we hit the water as part of the SAGS series, a relaxed, friendly pursuit-style racing program enjoyed year-round. Beyond Sundays, WMSC also hosts a variety of race series and regattas across the season, with sailors of all experience levels always welcome to join the action.

After months of preparation, the wait is almost over. Next weekend, sailors from across South East Queensland will come together for the 2026 St Helena Cup, continuing a tradition that has been a highlight of the sailing calendar for more than five decades.
We're excited to welcome competitors, supporters, sponsors and volunteers to Wynnum Manly Yacht Club for what promises to be another fantastic weekend both on and off the water.
A special thank you to our volunteers, sponsors and partners whose support is making this regatta possible. We are proud to have them as part of the St Helena Cup family.
If there are any berth holders who would like to have a free weekend over at RQYS to free up space for competitors, please reach out to the office. There will be a Bartons courtesy bus to bring you back to the club for some onshore action.
To all competitors, we wish you fair winds, close racing and a memorable weekend on Moreton Bay.
📅 9–11 October 2026 ⚓ Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions are available online. 🏆 Presentations will be held at WMYC following racing.
We'll see you on the start line.
If you haven't already entered, now is the time to get your entry in.

Last Friday, members of Wynnum Manly Sailing Club attended the Australian Sailing Awards, an evening dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of sailors, volunteers, clubs and programs from across the state.
We were incredibly proud to see both our club and one of our dedicated volunteers recognised among this year's finalists:
Wynnum Manly Sailing Club was shortlisted for the She Sails Sailing Program of the Year Award.
Stephen Bowering was shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year Award.
While we didn't bring home a trophy on the night, being named finalists is a significant achievement and recognition of the passion, commitment and hard work that continues to drive our club forward.
These nominations reflect the efforts of countless volunteers, committee members, instructors and supporters who give their time to create opportunities for people to get involved in sailing and enjoy our sport. We extend our sincere congratulations to Stephen and thank all of our volunteers and committees, whose dedication is at the heart of everything we do.
We would also like to thank Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron for hosting a wonderful evening and Australian Sailing Queensland for delivering another fantastic celebration of our sailing community.
We are honoured to have been recognised alongside so many outstanding individuals and organisations and look forward to continuing to grow participation, support our volunteers, and strengthen sailing in our community.
