At the Special General Meeting on Thursday 27 August, members voted unanimously in favour of the re-unification of the Sailing Club with Wynnum Manly Yacht Club, marking an exciting new chapter for our club.
A huge thank you to everyone who has worked behind the scenes to help bring the clubs back together. This has been a significant process, and the outcome is a wonderful step forward for our club community.
We look forward to moving ahead together and building an even stronger future for all our members. |
It’s been a big year at WMYC, and our recent AGM was a great opportunity to look back on what we’ve achieved and look ahead to what’s next.

A Few Special Congratulations
Congratulations to Sharon Boyle, who was named Club Member of the Year. A very well-deserved recognition of the time and energy Sharon puts into our club, beautifying the gardens and creating lovely floral arrangements for our events.
We also had the pleasure of awarding Life Membership to David Richards, recognising his longstanding contribution to WMYC. Congratulations, David!
And There’s More...
The AGM also saw some important club updates come together. Our Constitution has been amended, and the new Strategic Plan has been released, giving us a clear direction for the future.
The 2024–2025 WMYC Financial Audit will also be made available for members to view in the members-only section of the website.

The ramp works are progressing well, with all pilings now in place and formwork completed in preparation for the abutments and widening of the ramp on the northern side.
Please note the following upcoming closures:
Monday 31 August: The barge will be lifted out by crane, with the ramp unavailable from 8am to midday.
Friday 4 September: Concrete is scheduled to be poured from 5am, with the ramp unavailable from 5am to midday.
The ramp will reopen following the concrete works and will be ready for use on Saturday 5 September.
We’ll keep members updated should there be any changes to the schedule.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these essential improvements are carried out and apologise for any inconvenience caused. The upgrades will help enhance the functionality and longevity of the ramp pontoon facilities for all users.

The Bendigo Bank Community Raffle is back for 2026, and this year Wynnum Manly Yacht Club is proud to be supporting Men's Mental Health.
In addition to your support through purchasing tickets, we're also seeking volunteers to sell ticket's around the Club when they are here.
Why we need your support
Many members will remember the popular WMYC Men's Breakfast, which brought men from across the club together over a BBQ and a coffee. More than just a social catch-up, these breakfasts created opportunities for connection, conversation and support, giving members a chance to talk about what's happening in their lives and look out for one another.
To help bring this valuable initiative back, WMYC has joined more than 55 community and not-for-profit organisations across the Bayside and Redlands regions participating in the Bayside Community Fund's fundraising raffle, proudly sponsored by the Community Bank Victoria Point and Wynnum Manly branches of Bendigo Bank.

As many of our members will be aware, Wynnum Manly Yacht Club is bringing our food and beverage offering in-house, and we’re now building the team that will help bring this exciting new chapter to life.
We’re looking for enthusiastic, experienced people who want to be part of the WMYC team and help create a welcoming hospitality experience for our members, visitors and sailing community.
With a workplace right on the waterfront in Manly, these roles offer the chance to work in a unique club environment alongside a passionate boating community.
Current positions available:
Front of House Supervisor – Full Time
A hands-on leadership role helping oversee café, bar, functions, member services and sailing event hospitality.
Head Chef – Full Time
Lead the kitchen operation across café trade, member dining, functions, social events and regattas, with a focus on quality, consistency and a great member experience.
Barista – Part Time
Help deliver friendly, efficient café service and become part of our integrated food and beverage team.
Kitchen Hand – Part Time
Support the kitchen team with food preparation, cleaning, stock handling and service.

You may have noticed some new line marking in the car park as part of the works for the new office building.
To help protect the small block wall from accidental damage, the Club has purchased rubber wheel stops which now need to be installed.
We’re looking for a handy volunteer to help us secure six wheel stops to the bitumen. If you have the tools and a little time to spare, we’d really appreciate your help.

Most Sunday afternoons, we hit the water as part of the SAGS series, a relaxed, friendly pursuit-style racing program enjoyed year-round. Beyond Sundays, WMSC also hosts a variety of race series and regattas across the season, with sailors of all experience levels always welcome to join the action.

Ready to experience Moreton Bay after dark? The Kingfisher Night Series is back for 2026–27, bringing four nights of challenging and exciting yacht racing to the Bay.
Running since 1989, the series was created by sailors from the Moreton Bay yacht clubs to give skippers and crews the opportunity to build their skills and experience racing at night—navigating changing conditions, darkness and the unique challenges of the Bay after sunset.
With four races of approximately 35 nautical miles, each starting at 1500 hrs, the series is a fantastic opportunity to put your boat and crew to the test while enjoying some of the best sailing Moreton Bay has to offer.

📍 Race 1: 24 October – QCYC
📍 Race 2: 21 November – MCC
📍 Race 3: 20 February – MBBC
📍 Race 4: 20 March – WMYC
A big thank you to Queensland Cruising Yacht Club, Manly Cruising Club, Moreton Bay Boat Club and Wynnum Manly Yacht Club for working together to organise and deliver this long-running series.
We’d also like to thank Kingfisher Bay Resort, for supporting the 2026 Kingfisher Night Race Series with some fantastic prizes. Three lucky winners will each receive a two-night stay in Resort Hotel accommodation, including return passenger ferry transfers, with each prize package valued at $770 including GST.
