Over the last 6 months the Management Committe has undertaken research and conducted surveys to access the current situatioin the club is in and take steps to plan for the future.
In doing so a 10 year Strategic Plan has been put into place with targets and measures in place to ensure the plan is being delivered.
The highlights of the plan are:
To sustain WMYC as a friendly, member‑first yacht club while growing a younger and family‑inclusive membership base, improving financial resilience via clubhouse revenue, and strengthening precinct and boat security without diminishing member enjoyment.
Members rate overall value positively and support modernising facilities - bathrooms/change rooms and bar/dining are top priorities.
Growing membership (especially youth, young adults and families) is a core 10‑year priority.
The majority support opening food and beverage to the public to diversify revenue—provided marina and member spaces remain secure and members retain priority use.
Security confidence for vessels and grounds needs improvement; a “secure‑by‑design” approach is planned (physical separation, access control, and smart surveillance).
